About the Fragrance
Only by Julio Iglesias is far more interesting than its celebrity-fragrance origins might suggest. Created by Spanish perfumer Ramon Monegal, it opens with juicy plum and pineapple sharpened by bergamot, coriander and pimento, before unfolding into a dense floral heart of violet, ylang-ylang, mimosa, carnation, tuberose, rose and honey. What gives Only its personality is the base. Oakmoss, sandalwood, amber, labdanum, patchouli, musk and civet pull the sweetness into something deeper and warmer. Wearers describe it as powdery, floral, woody and slightly animalic, with one reviewer particularly noting the balance between fruity sweetness, woods and civet rather than a simple sugary drydown. It has the plushness and confidence of its era, but enough spice and moss underneath to keep it intriguing.
