Vintage & Discontinued Fragrances
Last updated: June 2026
Scent Reminiscent specialises in rare, vintage, discontinued, older-formula, pre-reformulation, earlier-packaging and limited-availability fragrances.
These products can offer a special opportunity to experience fragrances, bottle designs, packaging styles or formulations that may no longer be widely available.
However, older, vintage and discontinued fragrances can differ from current retail perfumes, later versions where reformulation has occurred, or the way the fragrance may have smelled when it was first produced.
This page explains what customers should understand before purchasing vintage, discontinued or older fragrance items from us.
Nothing in this page affects your statutory rights.
1. What We Mean by Vintage and Discontinued
On our website, terms such as vintage, discontinued, older-formula, pre-reformulation, earlier-packaging, rare, old stock and limited-availability may be used to describe fragrance items that are no longer commonly available through standard retail channels, or that differ from the current version or presentation of a fragrance.
A fragrance may be described in this way because it is no longer produced, no longer widely distributed, presented in older packaging, believed to be from an earlier formulation, sourced from older stock, or otherwise difficult to find.
Where possible, we aim to describe items clearly and accurately based on the information available to us.
2. Age, Storage and Natural Variation
Older fragrances may change over time.
Age, storage history, light exposure, heat exposure, air exposure, bottle design, atomiser condition and the nature of the fragrance materials themselves may affect the way a fragrance smells, looks or performs.
Even when genuine, older fragrances may show natural variation compared with newer bottles, current retail products or other bottles from a different batch, year, region or storage history.
3. Scent and Performance Differences
Vintage, discontinued, older-formula and pre-reformulation fragrances may not smell or perform exactly as a customer remembers, expects or compares with another bottle.
Differences may occur in top-note freshness, colour, strength, longevity, projection, drydown, overall scent character or perceived quality.
In some older fragrances, top notes may soften or fade over time, while base notes may become more prominent.
These changes do not automatically mean that the product is not genuine.
4. Evaporation, Fill Level and Colour Changes
Some older fragrance bottles may show signs of evaporation, colour change, sediment, label wear, box wear, cap wear, atomiser wear or other age-related characteristics.
Fill levels may vary, especially in partial bottles, used bottles, older bottles, splash bottles, dab bottles, miniature bottles and bottles with imperfect seals.
Where possible, we provide photographs and/or descriptions to show the visible condition of the item.
Customers should review all photographs and product descriptions carefully before purchase.
5. Packaging, Batch and Reformulation Differences
Fragrance bottles, labels, caps, boxes, batch codes, ingredients lists, concentrations and packaging designs may vary between years, regions, production runs and distribution markets.
Where a fragrance has been reformulated, discontinued, relaunched or repackaged, older bottles may differ from later or current versions.
References to older-formula, pre-reformulation, earlier-packaging or similar descriptions are based on the information reasonably available to us, including visible product details, packaging, batch information, fragrance knowledge, provenance and seller history.
Such descriptions are provided in good faith and should not be treated as a guarantee of exact manufacturing date, exact formula, exact batch history or laboratory-confirmed composition unless expressly stated otherwise.
6. Sealed Items
Some vintage, discontinued or older items may be sold sealed.
Where an item is sealed, we may not be able to inspect the liquid, scent, sprayer, stopper, internal condition, exact fill level or contents without opening it.
Customers should be aware that evaporation may occur even in sealed or unopened older items, particularly where the item has been stored for many years or where the original seal, stopper, atomiser or bottle closure is no longer perfectly airtight.
A sealed item may also show age-related characteristics such as colour change, box wear, cellophane wear, label wear or changes caused by long-term storage.
If a sealed item is described as sealed, this refers to its visible sealed condition and does not guarantee that the fragrance inside will smell, perform, spray, fill to the original level or present exactly as it did when originally produced.
By purchasing older, vintage, discontinued or sealed collector items, customers acknowledge that some age-related characteristics, including evaporation, may be present even where the item appears sealed or unused.

7. Partial Bottles and Used Items
Some items may be sold as partial bottles, used bottles, tester bottles, unboxed bottles, collector-owned bottles or private collection items.
For these items, the visible condition, approximate fill level, packaging, cap, sprayer, label and other details will be shown or described where possible.
Customers should review all photographs carefully before purchasing.
Partial, used and collector-owned items may show normal signs of handling, storage, wear or age.
8. Product Photographs and Descriptions
Product photographs form an important part of the product description.
Customers should review all photographs carefully, including images of the bottle, box, label, cap, batch code, fill level, seal, sprayer and any visible wear or damage.
The item shown in the photographs is usually the item you will receive unless expressly stated otherwise.
If there is any uncertainty about condition, packaging, fill level, age, batch, formulation, source or presentation, please contact us before purchasing.
9. No Guarantee of Modern Retail Experience
Vintage, discontinued, older-formula, pre-reformulation and earlier-packaging fragrances may not provide the same experience as buying a newly manufactured product from a current retail counter.
Older items may differ in presentation, scent, freshness, performance, packaging condition, atomiser function, box condition or customer expectations.
These differences are part of the nature of buying older, rare, discontinued or collector fragrance items.
10. Discovery Sets and Fragrance Samples from Older Items
Where we offer discovery sets, fragrance samples or sample vials prepared from vintage, discontinued, older-formula or limited-availability products, the sample may reflect the age, condition and character of the original source product.
Such samples may not smell or perform exactly like a current retail version, later formulation or a freshly produced bottle.
Please refer to our Discovery Sets & Fragrance Samples page for further information.
11. Questions Before Purchase
If you are unsure about any item, please contact us before purchasing.
We are happy to provide further information where reasonably possible, including additional photographs or clarification about the product description.
Because many of our items are rare, discontinued, limited in availability or sourced individually, we may not always be able to provide identical replacements if an issue arises.
12. Changes to This Page
We may update this Vintage & Discontinued Fragrances page from time to time.
The version published on our website at the time you place your order will apply to that order, unless a change is required by law.
