JOOP! Berlin sits firmly on the more extravagant side of women’s perfumery. Plum and peach give the opening a rich, juicy quality, but green notes and bergamot stop it from becoming simply sweet. The heart becomes fuller and more voluptuous through tuberose, heliotrope, iris, ylang-ylang, carnation, jasmine and rose. Its real signature emerges in the drydown. Caramel, vanilla, sandalwood, tonka, amber and benzoin create a creamy, softly powdery warmth beneath the florals. Vintage wearers describe Berlin as fruity, floral, sweet and substantial, with plum, peach and tuberose giving it a noticeably feminine richness while heliotrope, vanilla and sandalwood soften the composition into something almost velvety.
